About This Session
Description
This session is about how we design and share information to serve as many people as possible. Just like improving the accessibility of physical spaces, there are concrete steps we can take to make the information we share more understandable and usable.
We’ll start by looking at what neurodiversity is and thinking about some of the barriers that may impact people in accessing services they need. We’ll talk through strategies together and you’ll get to reflect on what you can do to widen the welcome in your own work.
This interactive session uses group discussion and analysis of real-life examples to help you apply what you’re learning.
What we'll cover:
In this session, we will:
- Explain the concept of neurodiversity
- Make connections between universal design, plain language, + neurodiversity
- Identify strategies for increasing accessibility in documents, presentations, and more
- Reflect on ways to improve the accessibility of your own content
Through real-life examples, we’ll explore what can make communication challenging for some folks and share practical strategies you can apply to a wide range of materials.
