Annual Survey

We don’t ever want to work in a vacuum.
And we always want the support we provide to be relevant.

So every year, we conduct an Annual Survey.
But – what exactly is it? And why should you bother responding?

Our Annual Survey asks Texas adult and family literacy providers what they need most. We ask a range of questions, looking both forward and back, to help figure out what we’re already doing that we should continue or expand, what we should change or stop doing, and what new ideas we should add to our activities.

This is your single best opportunity (but not your only opportunity!) to help influence our decisions for the coming year:

  • What should we focus on at regional symposia?
  • Who should we invite to present at the conference?
  • What other trainings and resources do you need?
  • What wild card ideas do you have that we should consider?

We use the results of the Annual Survey throughout the year – your responses influence regional symposia, online training, and our annual conference (among other things).

The 2025 Annual Survey has now closed.

The 2026 Annual Survey is open until July 15.

The 2026 Annual Survey will open in February 2026.

Who should respond?

Anyone involved in Texas adult and family literacy programs, especially those at community-based organizations (non-federally funded programs). Please feel free to share the link to this survey with other Texas literacy folks.

If you’ve been approved for a 2026 Literacy Texas Conference scholarship or grant, completing this survey is a requirement. Scholarship and grant awardees can respond any time before the survey closing date.

Do I need to answer all the questions?

Some questions are required – these are clearly marked. Other questions are specific to instructors, and some to program administrators – you can skip one of these sections if it doesn’t apply to you. Please don’t skip both sections – if you don’t submit responses in at least one section, your survey will not be counted as complete.

In some places, questions are marked as “OPTIONAL” – these give you the opportunity to expand on previous answers, but you can leave any or all of them blank if you have nothing additional to say.

What is Literacy Texas hoping to learn?

Which issues, topics, and concerns are most on your mind right now, and how Literacy Texas can be most effective over the next 12 – 18 months. We want to know how we can support you best, and we particularly want to know how we can offer literacy training and support that’s convenient, effective, and fits your current needs. We’ll use your responses to help plan our regional symposia and annual conference, as well as other priorities and activities.

As a thank you for your time, you’ll be entered into a prize draw, with four winners to be announced after the survey closes.

You can earn:

  • FIVE entries if you complete the survey on or before March 31;
  • THREE entries if you complete the survey between April 1 and April 30, and
  • ONE entry if you complete it between May 1 and July 15, when the survey closes.
Make sure to include your name and contact info at the end if you:
– are interested in telling us more in an online focus group, or
– want to have a chance to win a prize, or
– need us to record your response as part of a conference scholarship or grant.

Be assured, though, that your responses are confidential – no identifying information will be shared outside of Literacy Texas or used in analysis.
