SESSION 1: 9:00 AM - 10:30 AM (90 MIN)

Digital Literacy: Tools and Resources

Participants will be provided resources and strategies to help instruct a range of digital literacy skills to learners.  The strategies will target from the basic to the more advanced student.

SESSION 2: 10:45 AM - 12:15 PM (90 MIN)

Financial Literacy: Dollars and Sense

Participants will be provided information on Managing your Money, Making a Budget, and Financial Vocabulary.   The session will stress the importance of being financial stable in our society.

Standards: Backward Design and Lesson Planning (Part 1)

Backward Design approach to lesson planning and how to apply it to develop standards-based lessons. Participants learn how the backward design approach supports the development of more effective lessons. It focuses on the lesson objective and how to effectively plan for it.

WORKING LUNCH: 12:15 PM - 1:45 PM (90 MIN)

Dysgraphia: Tips and Tricks for Intervention

Presenter will explain how this disability affects people’s ability to write legibly and how it interferes with the ability to express themselves through written language. In addition, the presenter will share tips and strategies that can be created at home to help correct students’ writing.

SESSION 3: 2:00 PM - 3:00 PM (60 MIN)

We the People: Civics Education

The session entails how to integrate civics lessons into your ESL Classroom.  Participants will be shown free civics resources and the benefits of having a classroom aware of U.S. History and Government.
