Literacy Texas partners with regional literacy organizations throughout the state to offer half- or full-day literacy symposia.
Funded by the Professional Development Support for Nonprofit Adult Literacy Organizations grant from the Texas Workforce Commission, these symposia provide free professional development for volunteers and staff of nonprofit, community-based, and faith-affiliated organizations.
Symposia are an excellent place to learn and network with other literacy providers in your region, and a great source of professional development for volunteer instructors.
Regions where symposia are planned for the current grant year (September 2023 – August 2024):
- Central Texas
- DFW
- East Texas
- Far West
- Gulf Coast
- Mid-West
- South Texas
We will also present one symposium specifically for faith-affiliated literacy programs; this event is usually held online as faith-affiliated programs are found throughout Texas.
Dates and other details about upcoming symposia are listed in our calendar, as well as in our newsletter and on Literacy Texas social media.
Don’t see your region represented?
The Literacy Texas grant year runs September 1 through August 31. Every year in the summer, we open expressions of interest for the coming grant year.
Keep an eye out for the next opportunity to put your hand up to bring one of these great events to your part of Texas!
