2024 Central Texas Literacy Symposium

The 2024 Central Texas Literacy Symposium is co-presented by TaylorMade Careers and Literacy Texas. The symposium has the theme “Taking Literacy to New Heights” and provides a half-day of training.

It will be held on:

Thursday, May 9, 9:00 AM to 12:15 PM

and will take place online (you’ll get the Zoom link via email when you register). Check-in for registered participants will open at 8:50 AM.

This symposium is offered free of charge to Texas educators, volunteer tutors, ESL teachers, and other library and nonprofit professionals who work in the fields of adult and family literacy.

8:50AM – 9:00 AM: CHECK-IN ONLINE FOR PRE-REGISTERED ATTENDEES

9:00 AM – 9:15 AM: WELCOME, INTRODUCTIONS

9:15 AM – 10:45 AM: Session 1 (90 min)

The 6 Principles of Adult Learning

Increasing Motivational Self-Awareness for Adults

11:00 AM – 12:00 PM: Session 2 (60 min)

How Knowing Your Students Helps

Engaging Students With Motivational Interviewing

12:00 PM – 12:15 PM: WRAP-UP, FAREWELL

Schedule will be kept as current as possible but is subject to change; check back here for updates

PD Certificates

Someone who attends both sessions at the symposium will receive 2.5 hours of PD credit. Certificates of completion will be awarded after the event.

Complete the survey after the training is finished to give your details and get your certificate. Surveys will be sent via email in the days following the symposium.
