About This Session
Description
We believe that when we work together, everyone wins.
This workshop explores the way community collaboration has revolutionized the experience of adult learners in Texarkana. By partnering with other non-profits, higher education institutions, government agencies, and faith-based organizations, our students receive holistic support that helps them find academic and workforce success.
Subsequently, our Literacy Council also benefits through increased enrollment and improved retention. These community partnerships also open conversations for joint grant opportunities and new programming options for our learning center.
What we'll cover:
When life is hard, learning is hard. Two years ago, we were desperate to find a way to support adult learners who struggled to reach their academic and workforce goals. Challenges like child care, transportation, health issues, and housing interfered with student success.
Knowing that our tiny organization did not have the capacity to solve these issues, our team searched for a solution. We found the answer in the 100 Families Alliance, a collaborative case management initiative that had a history of measurable success in Arkansas. After reaching out to the leaders in Little Rock, the Literacy Council of Bowie and Miller Counties was proud to plan and launch 100 Families in Texarkana.
After more than a year in practice, 100 Families has revolutionized our community and provided better support for men and women who have many needs. We have found that when we work together, everyone wins.
