Literacy Nonprofits and organizations in Texas strive to serve over 90 thousand citizens that cannot read or write in order to achieve goals to reach their full potential. However there are currently 6.2 million citizens that cannot read or write sufficiently to hold a job or function fully in society.
Because we believe every Texan has the right to literacy, we provide a series of free regional and statewide training symposiums throughout the year and a conference every August. We have a special focus on providing professional development for tutors, staff, instructors, and volunteers at nonprofit organizations providing adult literacy services. Through our events, organizations not only get training and the most up to date resources, they also benefit from connecting with other Nonprofits statewide and share ideas. Additionally our website currently holds a repository of over 300 hours of training resources.
Literacy Texas is here to provide and empower Literacy Nonprofits with training and best practices so they can focus on what they do best: increase the number of literate Texans and together reach the goal of 100% literacy in our State.
