TABE Testing Updates and Best Practices to Improve Student Outcomes
In this session you will learn:
- Best practices for TABE testing including remote proctoring;
- How use the new TABE Writing Test can help improved HSE testing outcomes.

Taking Contextualized Video Lessons to Your Classroom
Using videos in teaching is a common practice; in this session, participants will learn strategies to incorporate the contextualized Adult Ed Med videos into their classroom.

Teaching Reading is Harder Than I Thought!
Many adult learners have needs in basic reading skills that literacy tutors feel unprepared to address.
In this session, strategies for teaching basic reading skills that reading specialists use will be explained in “plain English” and made usable by tutors who do not have a literacy instruction background.

Pre-GED Program for Spanish Speakers in the US? Best Program: Plaza Comunitaria!
The Plaza Comunitaria is a bridge for the academic, social, cultural, and economic integration of a growing population of Hispanic youngsters, adults, and families. Its accredited Adult Basic Education Pre-GED program is available in the US and open to Hispanics from any Spanish-speaking country, and fully accredited by the INEA from the Secretary of Public Education of Mexico.
Come to this session to learn more about the Plaza Comunitaria de Plano, Texas, which has been running successfully for 18 years.

Basic Adult Literacy and Pre-GED for Hispanics
Since 2004, the Mexican Institute for Adult Education has been offering a free curriculum to community-based organizations, schools, churches, associations. The curriculum focuses on helping Hispanics learn how to read and write, and complete Elementary and Middle School education.
The adult literacy program called Plaza Comunitaria can be administered and taught by volunteer tutors. The program provides an educational foundation to all low-literacy Latinos in Spanish.
