Opening Plenary: Explaining Children’s Mental Health to Caregivers With Literacy Needs

This presentation will focus on the importance of professionals who work with children and caregivers to facilitate disseminating information and educating caregivers on children’s mental health issues, while remaining sensitive to caregivers’ needs, such as low literacy levels, and exercising reflective practice.

Lunch & Keynote: The Impact of Workforce Development and Education on the Texas Economy

Julian Alvarez III is the Commissioner Representing Labor of the Texas Workforce Commission (TWC). Governor Greg Abbott reappointed him to the three-member Commission on March 7, 2017. As Labor Commissioner, Commissioner Alvarez represents the interests of more than 14 million Texas workers with respect to TWC services and ensures that their concerns are considered in all Commission actions.
