Literacy Texas Board President, Lester Meriwether, was selected to represent literacy community based organizations on the Texas Interagency Literacy Council.

Three state agencies, community leaders to develop state’s literacy plan
The Council, established by the 81st Texas Legislature, will develop a statewide action plan for the improvement of literacy in Texas.
“We recognize that literacy is vital to the success of our workforce and the employers of Texas,” said TWC Executive Director Larry Temple, whose agency provides oversight and resources for the council. “I am pleased that so many talented and knowledgeable people have agreed to serve our state on this important committee.”
Temple represents TWC on the Interagency Literacy Council along with Kerry Ballast representing the Texas Education Agency and Tamara Clunis representing the Texas Higher Education Coordinating Board.
